Benjamin Pavard arrives in Munich for a medical

Ahead of his impending transfer to Bayern Munich, Benjamin Pavard is reportedly in Munich to have his medical [via kicker]. Usually, this would be hugely exciting news, but Pavard’s transfer was announced months ago, so this is basically a formality now. The French national team defender will join the club in the summer, along with his compatriot Lucas Hernandez.

The only thing that could sink this deal now is some kind of preexisting condition being uncovered in the medical, like how in 2017, Juventus uncovered Patrick Schick’s heart condition and backed out of a done deal.

Of course, that’s very unlikely to happen. Pavard has been a rumored target for a very long time, and his transfer to Bayern was basically an open secret until the club came out and confirmed it. Stuttgart continue to make noises about how they “haven’t received any money for the transfer”, but that’s simply because Pavard has a set release clause that will be paid in the summer.
