Robert Lewandowski has rubbished suggestions that his wife, Anna blocked him from potentially making a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the past when speaking to French television network Telefoot (via SportBild). The Polish ace has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but he revealed that a number of French clubs have also expressed interest in signing him, namely PSG.
With regards to a move to the French capital and the rumor that his wife didn’t want to move there, Lewandowski said that had absolutely nothing to do with not leaving Bayern Munich for a French club:
I have had the opportunity to sign with a club in France in the past, but I can not say anything more. My wife did not want to go to Paris? I have not heard anything so stupid. That’s fake news. That had nothing to do with it. Several variables come into play when it comes to making future decisions. I’m very happy at Bayern Munich.
As it is, Lewandowksi won’t have to look too far for French teammates as both Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez will be joining the ranks at Bayern next season. He said he’s looking forward to playing alongside both of his new teammates and he jokingly said he might try his luck at learning French:
I’ve already played against Pavard, he’s a good player and for him it will be a new stage in his career. He’s a good signing for Bayern. I know Lucas too. There is a lot of Spanish players - now I’m going to have to learn French.

To contrast the suggestion that Lewandowski’s wife denied him a move to Paris, she’s actually a big part of the reason why he’s able to stay in such good shape as she’s a professional fitness instructor, karate specialist, and nutritionist. His diet plan is well disciplined and she’s able to help keep him on track off the pitch. She did, however, reveal last year that they envision ending their careers in Los Angeles, but hopefully for Bayern that’s quite a way’s off, and you can’t blame them for wanting something different in the final stages of his career.
