On a day when all eyes were on Bayern Munich’s senior team’s drubbing of Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, Bayern’s U19s also were part of a goal-fest. The U19s drew to Stuttgart with four goals apiece at the FC Bayern Campus. However, the high scoreline wasn’t the only newsworthy piece to come from this match.
In the 70th minute, 17-year old Taylor Booth came on as a sub to make his competitive debut for Bayern. Booth officially transferred from Real Salt Lake’s academy in this winter’s transfer period. Since signing with Bayern, he has been nursing a minor Achilles tendon injury, which has pushed back his debut. Booth played alongside fellow young American, Chris Richards, who started and played the whole match.
Although Booth didn’t have any notable impact on the game, it is a huge step towards meeting his goal of someday playing at the top level. It is great to see him already getting looks with the U19 team at the age of 17.
