Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has missed two of the team’s last three games with injuries, but is working hard to return per FCBayern.com.
The former Schalke 04 man missed the Champions League battle against Liverpool with what was described as a “tendon irritation” before returning to play 45 minutes against Hertha Berlin, where Goretzka sustained an ankle injury.
The latest ailment caused Goretzka to sit out Bayern’s 5-1 thrashing of Borussia Monchengladbach, but the 24-year-old is putting in some extra effort to get healthy and be available for Niko Kovac over the next two weeks.
While his teammates were enjoying a day off to recover from the exhausting game in Mönchengladbach on Monday, Leon Goretzka was working hard at the training ground on Säbener Straße. The Germany international missed the game on Saturday evening due to an ankle problem, and is now doing everything he can to re-join the team as quickly as possible. The day’s training program included dribbling exercises, sprints, passing drills and shooting practice.
The next two games are key for Bayern’s title hopes in the Bundesliga and Champions League. On Saturday, Bayern will square off with a rejuvenated and dangerous Wolfsburg side that is looking to push itself into a top six position in the league, while next Wednesday’s battle with Liverpool will determine if Die Roten will move on in Europe’s top competition.
