Per UOL journalist Vinicius Castro, Bayern Munich veteran outside back Rafinha will exit Bavaria this summer and head back to his native Brazil to finish his career. According to Castro, Rafinha will sign with the Brazilian club Flamengo.

Flamengo closed a deal this evening on the signing of right-back Rafinha. The commitment will be valid for two years. The parties had been talking for some time, but only aligned the details of the contract at today’s meeting.

Flamengo had been rumored to have interest in the 33-year-old for quite some time, but now it appears that the deal has come to fruition. Rafinha has been an extremely valuable and versatile asset on the Bayern roster.

In January, Rafinha spoke to Bild and let it be known that a deal was close.

There is mutual interest. And we are close to reaching an agreement. Some details still need attention. But I hope that we can solve this as quickly as possible. I’d like to make it clear that Flamengo is my first option, if I return to Brazil.

UPDATE: 8:55AM EST

Rafinha is refuting the claim by UOL and stated this to Bild:

No decision has yet been made about my future. I do not know yet if I will stay in Europe or go to Brazil.

We will post any other updates to the situation as it develops.
