It’s been a while for Bavarian Fashion Works, but we finally have another kit leak for Bayern Munich thanks to Footy Headlines. This time around, the design concept for Bayern’s pre-match shirt for the 2019/2020 season has been leaked, and we have a feeling a lot of Bayern fans are going to like it, especially the ultras.

When Bayern’s 2018/2019 kit was launched prior to the end of last season, Bayern’s ultras displayed banners on the Südkurve at the Allianz Arena protesting the navy blue shorts during the match against VfB Stuttgart. The banner did display some foul language, but it essentially stated that the club’s colors are red and white, and that the home kits should exclusively feature only red and white. With that said, we can safely say that this pre-match kit will be a hit, at least for most.

This top is another continuation of Adidas’s partnership with Parley to help reduce plastic waste and pollution of the world’s oceans. The unique contrasts of darker and lighter shades of red in a flowing lava type pattern really make this top pop and it’s uniquely balanced by the white Adidas logo and [kind of] monochromatic team badge; technically, there’s red and white on the team badge. The color scheme, in a way, pays homage to a number of Bayern’s home kits from, the 1990s that were comprised of red and white and featured different patterns across the front and back of the tops. Upon closer inspection, on the inside of the crew neck collar, there’s a black ring with white font that reads “For the Oceans,” Parley’s main slogan.

It may not seem like a big deal to some, but this new top is representative of the collective voice that Bayern Munich fans have, especially the ultras. There’s no way to concretely confirm or deny how much of a role the protests had in Adidas’ decision making to only have red and white on this new type. On the surface it really seems as if Adidas truly heard the call for eliminating colors other than red and white.
