While nothing is official, the Münchner Merkur is reporting that Bayern Munich will play one of its Audi Summer Tour games for the International Champions Cup in Kansas City, Missouri.

FC Bayern Munich will contest one of their matches at the Kansas City Chiefs National Football League (NFL) this summer as part of their trip to the United States. Clark Hunt, owner of the Chiefs said. This year’s Super Bowl semifinalist, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, plays in the 76,000-seat capacity Arrowhead Stadium.

The Hunt family is also the owner of the professional football club FC Dallas from North America’s Major League Soccer (MLS), with whom the German record champions have a partnership. The MLS club Sporting KC also plays in Kansas City, which was also owned by the Hunts, but was sold to a group of investors in 2006.

For Bayern, it is already the fourth trip to the United States since 2014. The venues and the period will announce the Munich on March 27th.

There has been rampant speculation about which cities withing the United States Bayern would visit this summer after last year’s stops in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Miami, Florida.

While many have speculated that Bayern would be linked to a game in Dallas, Texas (given its partnership with FC Dallas), it appears that FC Dallas owner Clark Hunt might have pulled some weight to get the Bavarians to take the pitch at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, where he owns the NFL’s Chiefs.

UPDATE: 8:00AM EST — CONFIRMED!

Bavarian Football Works previously confirmed this news via a source close to the situation and Bundesliga.com has subsequently made the news official.

“Bayern are going to play at the Arrowhead Stadium,” Hunt told German daily Bild. “They’re a global brand. They position their world stars perfectly to promote the band. I’m really happy.”

The exact details of who Bayern will play will be announced on the club’s website, fcbayern.com, on 27 March.
