After making headlines by callously announcing that the services of Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels and Thomas Muller would no longer be needed, Joachim Low named his squad for the upcoming friendly against Serbia and the much more important Euro Qualifying Round game against the Netherlands.

All in all, five Bayern players made the cut. Manuel Neuer, who should still be the team’s starting keeper, defender Niklas Sule, and midfielders Serge Gnabry, Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich. Of the five names, the aforementioned starting keeper, as well as Kimmich figure to be the only “for sure” starters, but with Goretzka in impressive form, look for him to get some serious minutes. Gnabry has started to look more and more like a potential starter for Low as well given his performances during the last international break and his impressive form for Bayern.
Aside of Muller, Boateng, and Hummels, Julian Draxler and Mario Gotze were not included, while many new faces dot the roster for Germany. It truly looks to be a new era for Die Mannschaft.
