Per a release by USSoccer.com, Bayern Munich youth player and former FC Dallas Academy product Chris Richards has received the call-up to play for the United States U20 team next week in Pinatar, Spain. The United States U20 squad will square off with France on March 22nd and Japan on March 25th.
Richards, whose journey to Bavaria was captured in our three-part series last month, has seen his stock take a meteoric rise as he progressed from Texans SC to FC Dallas to a loan spell with Bayern Munich, which ultimately led to a permanent deal with Die Roten.
Two big challenges await in Spain.

In addition, Richards’ former Texans SC teammate Christian Cappis will be a part of the squad as will two other players with Bundesliga ties. Defender Chris Gloster (Hannover 96) and midfielder Alex Mendez (SC Freiburg) will also be on the United States roster.
