Didier Deschamps has officially announced his 23-man roster for France’s upcoming UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against Moldova (Friday, 3/22) and then Iceland (Monday, 3/25). Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman joins up with the defending World Champions, officially listed as an attacker along with Antoine Griezmann, Florian Thauvin, Nabil Fekir, Anthony Martial, Olivier Giroud, and Kylian Mbappe. Here’s the full squad list:

Coman has not played for the French National Team since November of 2017, where he appeared in friendly win over Wales. He has suffered several injury setbacks between then and now. Before the Wales friendly, he had featured just three times for France during their qualification campaign for the 2018 World Cup. On such a talented squad, minutes for Coman are not guaranteed, but it would be nice to see him get some time after he was forced to watch his compatriots lift the World Cup trophy while he remained out injured. Coman could have played a major role for Les Bleus in Russia.
Coman also meet future teammate Benjamin Pavard when he arrives at the Clairefontaine training center. Bayern transfer-target Lucas Hernandez meanwhile has not been called up. This could have been another opportunity for Pavard — or the so-called “Bayern super agent” — to try to convince Hernandez to join Bayern, as he has already suggested to the Atletico Madrid defender. Perhaps Pavard and Coman will turn their attention to Olympique Marseille’s Thauvin, who has also been on Bayern’s radar.
