Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola spent three years with Bayern Munich where the club won three Bundesliga titles. When the Bavarians take the pitch at the Allianz Arena later today against Liverpool in the Champions League, the Spanish coach won’t have trouble picking out where his allegiance will be.
As captured by talkSPORT, Guardiola did not mince words when discussing who he would like to see emerge the victor in today’s showdown in Munich.
I’m sorry for the English people but I want Bayern to go through. I am big fan, I am part of this club. I love Munich, Bayern and all the people. I would like Bayern to go through but it will not be easy.
Soccer journalist Raphael Honigstein took to his Twitter account (@honigstein) to go a step further in detailing Guardiola’s thought process:
For the avoidance of doubt, this was about who’s going through. https://t.co/8pUfPWggeC

In any event, Manchester City holds a one-point lead over Liverpool in the Premier League table through 30 games. More importantly to some, Guardiola’s squad throttled Schalke 04, 7-0, yesterday to advance to the next round of the Champions League competition by an aggregate score of 10-2.
