Per the Vancouver Sun, Bayern Munich youngster Alphonso Davies will return home to help Canada prepare for the CONCACAF Nations League. The Canadian national team will play French Guiana on March 24th at BC Place Stadium and Davies is expected to feature for the squad.
The Vancouver Sun also captured a quote from Canada coach John Herdman stating the importance of the contest:
Every game you play at home is special, but this game has the little something extra as the result could really shape the destiny for Canada.
Davies has found the standard in Germany to be much higher than what he was used to in North America, but is determined to improve and succeed. The former Vancouver Whitecaps star has not seen much first-team action for Bayern Munich, but continues to progress and refine his game in training. Davies has played a total of 25 minutes in four Bundesliga appearances and also played the full 90 minutes in a recent appearance for FC Bayern Munich II in Regionalliga Bayern.
The 18-year-old and highly talented Davies will surely play a key role for Canada over the coming years in its hopes to qualify for the 2022 World Cup and also hopes to establish himself in Bavaria during that period as well.
