Manuel Neuer missed the game against Bayer Leverkusen due to his hand injury, but the day after, he was back at team training although he did not participate in goalkeepers’ training. Whether it is a more serious injury or will he be back in a couple of days, we don’t know. The question is, will he be ready for Wednesday’s clash against Hertha Berlin?

Neuer trained for one hour with the team. He warmed up and was a part of passing and playing exercises, but he didn’t play the final training match. .He instead talked with Niko Kovač for ten minutes at the sidelines. Since he didn’t take part in the goalkeeper training and wasn’t wearing gloves, it was evident that he was wearing a plastic splint on his injured right thumb.

According to SportBild sporting director, Hassan Salihamidžić remains hopeful of his return before Champions League tie with Liverpool. Niko Kovač also commented on Neuer’s injury after the defeat in Leverkusen:

I can not say exactly. When I say it will be five months, there is a big fuss, and if I say it will be five days, everyone thinks it’s not that bad. The fact is, he was in pain. Otherwise, he would have played.

On the bright side, Thiago Alcantara, Franck Ribery, and Arjen Robben were also part of the team training this morning.

We can hope that Sven Ulreich is right:

His finger has swollen quite a bit. But in a day or two, it will be better and he can play again

Who will be between the posts for Wednesday’s DFB Pokal game against Hertha? We will have to wait and see.
