Per France Football, Bayern Munich has dropped its pursuit of Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot. Fekir had been occasionally linked to Bayern, while Rabiot had been mentioned frequently in recent weeks as his relationship with PSG has deteriorated. The report also states, however, that the Bavarians are still keeping an eye on Marseille winger Florian Thauvin and Lille winger Nicolas Pépé.
The report initially covered what we already had heard about Uli Hoeness indicating Bayern could eventually pay the fee for Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez, but transitioned into an update on which other French players were on the radar of Die Roten.
In addition, Bayern will not be the next club of Adrien Rabiot or Nabil Fekir, but the most prestigious German team remains interested in the profiles of Nicolas Pépé (Lille) and Florian Thauvin (Marseille).
The rumors on Pépé have been covered extensively here, but Thauvin is a name that has been mentioned periodically over the past year. With a perceived need to add a winger, both Pépé and Thauvin could fill that void if Bayern is set on acquiring a wide player.
