The feud between Didi Hamann and Bayern Munich seems to just keep escalating to new heights. Now, Uli Hoeness has thrown his hat into the ring, and the results are just as spectacular as you’d expect.
Speaking on Sport1’s CHECK 24 Doppelpass program (Bild), Bayern’s outspoken President pulled no punches in his criticism of Hamann. Here’s what he said:
Didi was a player here and knows the club. I hold that against him.
He acts as if he were the Messiah of soccer-commentators – the ultimate know-it-all. He hasn’t done so much better in his life that he can know it all.
He once worked as a coach in the 5th League and got the boot in the shortest amount of time. Now he thinks that he’s better than Guardiola and Ancelotti combined. That’s simply not okay.
In case you don’t know what all the fuss is about, this whole saga started when Didi Hamann, in his capacity as a pundit for Sky Sports, criticized Robert Lewandowski in a case of exceptionally lazy and ill-advised punditry.
In response, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic chose to hit back at the former player, accusing him of waging a campaign against Lewandowski. Since then, relations between Bayern and Hamann have been frosty, to say the least.
Owing to Hamann being so obviously in the wrong, this saga has been thoroughly entertaining thus far. Here’s to more roasts!
