In an interview with Sport1 (video), Bayern Munich’s president Uli Hoeness expressed the front office’s satisfaction with the team’s performance yesterday in their dramatic 0:0 away draw against Liverpool FC. Hoeness was happy with the result, even if the game was scoreless:
With the 1:1 prediction we already had suggested that our goal was a draw. And we’re also very satisfied with a 0:0. Especially with the way that we played, the way the team presented itself: disciplined, all for one and one for all. That was a lot of fun.
Hoeness particularly singled out head coach Niko Kovac for praise. Asked about future plans for the second leg in Munich, Hoeness replied,
The coach will decide that. He did well yesterday and in three weeks he’ll make the right decisions again.
Hoeness has had enough of the incessant debate about whether Kovac is the right coach for Bayern. He said, “We have to stop referring every game to the coach. That’s all *hogwash.” The coach is doing a good job.”
*Literally: “cheese.”
Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg added a further comment that did not make the cut in the video:
Hoeneß nochmal zu Kovac: „Ich finde die Argumente schon seit Längerem lächerlich. Wir haben von den letzten 16 Spielen, glaube ich, 14 gewonnen. Was braucht man da über den Trainer zu diskutieren?“ #fcbayern

I’ve thought the arguments are ridiculous for a long time. We’ve won 14, I think, of the last 16 games. What’s there to discuss about the coach?
