After Bayern Munich dispatched Schalke at the Allianz Arena, there were some heroics in the stands, as a group of fans came to the rescue of a young fan. The fan in question had made a poster asking Kimmich to come over so they could congratulate him on his birthday. Joshua Kimmich went over to the stands to give his jersey to a young supporter who had made a sign requesting Kimmich’s shirt, as is commonplace after matches.

Right as Kimmich had tossed his jersey to the young fan, a man quickly snatched the kit away and tried to flee the scene with the jersey in hand, but his escape was thwarted by a group of fans near the incident. Immediately after he was confronted, the man returned Kimmich’s shirt to the young fan, as it was clear that he was the intended target recipient.

The incident:

The man tried to play it off that he didn’t know Kimmich was tossing his jersey to the kid, but the video suggests otherwise. And not only did the surrounding supporters step to make sure the man gave the jersey back; perhaps the most refreshing aspect of the scene appears at the tail end of the clip where you can see Kimmich himself waiting to make sure his jersey was returned to the young fan.

It goes without saying that Kimmich is 100% growing into a future leader of this Bayern team, and sometimes it’s the small details that speak volumes. The fact that he he stayed to make sure the young fan got his jersey shows his character and compassion that’s part of what makes him such a complete player both on and off the pitch. Mia San Mia!

Speaking of young fans, Berni was making the rounds after the Schalke match to give out some free hugs to Thiago and Javi Martinez’s little ones (cuteness overload):
