FC Bayern Munich have officially announced that Hasan Salihamidžić will officially join Bayern Munich’s executive board on July 1, 2020, and Herbert Hainer has been appointed as president of the supervisory board. The supervisory board unanimously voted in favour of appointing Salihamidžić as “board member for sport” and Hainer as the new president of the supervisory board (not to be confused with the chairman of the executive board, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge).
Salihamidžić, whose current contract as sporting director runs until June 30, 2020, revealed his delight at being appointed as the board member for sport (FCBayern.com):
I’d like to thank the supervisory board led by Uli Hoeneß and Herbert Hainer for their confidence and appreciation. I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues on the executive board. Together we have the challenge and obligation to set a future course for FC Bayern so we can be successful and maintain our identity.
Newly minted FC Bayern Munich AG supervisory board chairman, Herbert Hainer, echoed the outlook of the future at Die Roten and regards Salihamidžić as the right person to take the club forward.
The supervisory board is convinced that Hasan is the right man to help shape and be responsible for the sporting future of FC Bayern in the coming years.
The appointment of Herbert Hainer as chairman of the supervisory board became official at the meeting where the previous chairman, Uli Hoeness, recommended Hainer as his successor as chairman and president of FC Bayern. Hoeness was voted by members as deputy chairman of the supervisory board. Dr. Herbert Diess (chairman of the board of Volkswagen AG) and Dr. Werner Zedelius (Senior Advisor Allianz SE) were also appointed to their respective positions. Hainer said (FCBayern.com),
Being elected by my colleagues as chairman of the FC Bayern München AG supervisory board is both an honour and a responsibility. I’d like to say a big thank you for the confidence shown in me. In addition, I’m extremely happy that Uli Hoeness remains a member of the supervisory board as deputy chairman and that he will continue to support us with his knowledge and advice.
