Under the watchful eye of new Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer, Bayern Frauen jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back on their way to 2-0 victory over SC Freiburg. The Bavarians are unbeaten in the Frauen Bundesliga since October 12.

Simone Laudehr opened the scoring for Bayern in just the second minute after pouncing on a loose ball in the Freiburg box. Lina Magull’s free kick into the area wasn’t properly cleared, and Laudehr stuck the ball into the back of the net to put Bayern up 1-0.

The next hour passed with Bayern pushing for more goals. Lineth Beerensteyn, Mandy Islacker, and Melanie Leupolz all came close to grabbing Bayern’s second; however, when that goal finally did arrive, it came thanks to a defender.

Amanda Ilestedt would be the one to head Bayern clear to the 2-0 victory. In the 80th minute, the tall Swede headed home a cross from Carina Wenninger to see Bayern to the win.

Bayern XI: Benkarth - Hendrich, Ilestedt, Laudehr, Simon - Leupolz, Magull (59. Skorvankova), Lohmann, Beerensteyn - Dallmann - Islacker (68. Damnjanovic)

The three points move Bayern into a temporary tie for second in the Frauen Bundesliga with Hoffenheim and three points behind leaders Wolfsburg. Both of them will play on Sunday, against USV Jena and SC Sand, respectively.

Bayern have one more match before they head off for the winter break. Next Friday, the Bavarians will travel to take on FFC Frankfurt.

And, with that, Berni and Santa say goodnight.
