The transfer bomb of the day has just been confirmed: Erling Braut Haaland (spelled Håland in Norwegian) has just joined Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg for 20 million euros.
Scoring 24 goals in 20 competitive games this season, eight of them coming in the Champions League, the 19-year-old super talent has been linked with most of the elite clubs after a fantastic start to the 2019/20 season.
Born in Leeds to former professional footballer Alf-Inge Haaland, Erling joined Red Bull Salzburg on the 1st of January 2019 after a successful spell in Molde, where he was coached by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
It was because of this connection Manchester United fans hoped to sign the young Norwegian starlet, but they faced stiff competition from most elite football clubs after Haaland’s successful Champions League campaign. RB Leipzig was an obvious candidate in the race, as they have the Red Bull connection with Salzburg. Another candidate that was heavily linked with the Norwegian was Italian powerhouse Juventus.
It has now been confirmed, however, that Erling has chosen Borussia Dortmund. Unlike most talented teenagers, Håland already possesses great physical qualities for a man of his age. Dortmund has long needed to bolster their striker position and if all goes well, they have filled that position for years to come.
