That’s it. The season has been Cancelo’d. According to Bild, Bayern wants THIS PEP-STAR!
Except he isn’t really a Pep-star at all: Joao Cancelo. Manchester City paid Juventus Turin a whopping €65m for Cancelo to keep a spot on the bench warm since this past August. He has played all of 989 minutes in 15 matches across competitions, scoring one goal.
It is Cancelo’s sad fate to be roster-blocked by that rarity on the Merry Island, a talented English-born player: in this case, Kyle Walker.
Hence Cancelo hypothetically would like a change of scenery where he might actually start an important game now and then instead of being an unused substitute. And Bayern could use him: as in the case of Benjamin Henrichs, if Cancelo played at right-back, Benjamin Pavard could line up alongside David Alaba or eventually Lucas Hernandez, and Joshua Kimmich would no longer have to be the back-up at his former position.
Bild speculate that Cancelo would probably come on loan to Bayern, if they make a move.
