Bayern Munich came from behind to beat FFC Frankfurt 3-2 on Friday, in their final game of 2019. The win is Bayern Frauen’s tenth out of thirteen games to start the Bundesliga season, and they’re unbeaten in the last seven league matches.

Frankfurt jumped out to an early lead in the 9th minute when Laura Freigang received a long pass from her goalkeeper and somehow beat Laura Benkarth in the Bayern goal. Just before the half hour mark, Bayern equalized when Lineth Beerensteyn turned in a pass from Melanie Lupolz.

Bayern kicked off the second half with a bang when Carolin Simon smashed home a free kick to put Bayern up 2-1.

Freigang banged home her second of the match in the 72nd minute to make it 2-2. Just when Frankfurt thought they were going to take a point from this one, Leupolz scored in the 89th minute to give the Bavarians all three points.

Bayern will end the first half the season in third place behind Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim. Depending on how their games go this weekend, Bayern could be anywhere from 3-6 points out of first place. The gap between Bayern and the fourth place side, however, has grown to 9-12 points, depending on how SGS Essen’s match this weekend goes.

The winter break is here for Bayern Frauen. While the ladies will get the next couple of weeks off, they will travel to Qatar with the men’s team this year as part of their winter training camp. They won’t take the field again in an official match until the weekend of February 15 (official day hasn’t been selected) against a team who beat them earlier this season: Bayer Leverkusen.
