Update: Kingsley Coman should be back for Bayern’s winter training camp in Doha

Coman’s injury thankfully isn’t as bad as initially feared. The club expects him to miss only the three final games of 2019.

There’s a silver lining to Kingsley Coman’s injury after all, or at least as much of a silver lining that there could be. After fearing a possible ACL tear due to the awkward way the winger landed on his left knee, it was confirmed that he actually suffered a capsule tear and also pulled his biceps tendon and jarred his knee joint. Thankfully, he did not suffer any ligament damage, which was the initial fear and would’ve kept him out likely for the remainder of the season.

A time table for Coman’s return was unknown, but after further examination, team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt confirmed that Coman should be ready to join the team for the winter training camp in Doha as they prepare for the Rückrunde:

Müller-Wohlfahrt:

Of course we were all shocked at first. But Kingsley was very lucky. The examinations have revealed that he will miss only three games and will participate in the preparations for the Rückrunde in Doha with the team.

As it stands, Coman will only miss Bayern’s last 3 games of 2019 against Werder Bremen, SC Freiburg, and VfL Wolfsburg and should be ready for the start of the Rückrunde:

It seems like Coman can never catch a break when it comes to injury luck, but thankfully his timetable for a return to action is much sooner than he had originally feared. Nonetheless, he will be dearly missed in Bayern’s remaining three Bundesliga matches in the Hinrunde.
