Once you make the Quarterfinals of the Women’s Champions League, it was never going to be an easy draw. Bayern Munich Frauen certainly couldn’t have been thrilled when they saw their name pull against the reigning four-time champion Olympique Lyon.
Being drawn against Lyon is the last thing the other seven teams wanted in the in these quarterfinals, and that duty now falls to the Bavarians. Head coach Jens Scheuer acknowledges the challenge ahead.
“With Lyon, the absolute favorite and multiple time winner of the Champions League is waiting for us. That’s definitely not the luckiest of draws, but there aren’t any easy opponents in a UWCL Quarterfinal. We accept this challenge! I hope that we can rise to the occasion and give our very best in these next two games to stand up to such a top opponent.”
