KIT LEAK: Germany’s home kit for Euro 2020

These jerseys are...um...an attempt at meshing different iconic jerseys together, but they are far from Adidas’s best.

Euro 2020 is now just under seven months away. Some national teams have already released their official kits for the tournament, while others will wait until just a few months before the competition starts to release theirs. Thanks, once again, to Footy Headlines, the design for Germany’s home kit for Euro 2020 has been leaked and is said to be scheduled for an official release at some point next week.

As is often the creative direction from Adidas, they’ve tried to incorporate different features from various iconic jerseys of the past in the Euro 2020 home kit. At first glance, there’s this kit combines elements of the World Cup 2014 away kit (the sleeves) and the Euro 2016 home jersey (black and white base) with a black ring around the neck.

Have a look for yourselves:

It really looks like Adidas simply took the basic layout from the Euro 2016 home kit and the color scheme from 2014 World Cup away kit and put it on the sleeves. On closer inspection, instead of the vertical stripe that was on the Euro 2016 kit, Adidas have utilized horizontal hoop stripes that contain a subtle, faded brushstroke pattern across the front of the kit. That same stripe pattern is applied in a vertical fashion on the back of the kit towards the top and the back of the shoulders above where the player’s names would go. On the side of the kit, they utilize a bolder pattern with vertical stripes in contrast to the horizontal pattern on the front of the kit. If you look closely, too, you’ll notice the four black stars on the back of the neck that are also found above Germany’s crest on the front breast, signifying the four World Cup titles they’ve won.

As has almost always been the case with Germany’s home kits, they’ll be accompanied by bold black shorts with a white team badge and white Adidas logo, rounded out by white socks with black lettering on them. Once again, this has been bold overall from Adidas, but will it be universally disliked by Die Mannschaft fans?

You all know the drill, have your say!
