Bayern Munich top Köln, remain third in Frauen Bundesliga

Three was enough: Bayern’s third lead of the match was finally enough to down Köln.

Jovana Damnjanovic and Melanie Leupolz each bagged braces as Bayern Munich overcame a feisty Köln squad to march to their fifth straight win in all competitions. Lina Magull scored the other goal for the Bavarians.

It took three different leads for Bayern to finally overcome Köln. Karoline Kohr scored the visitors first equalizer. The second came on a wonder-goal from Sabrina Horvat.

Now, everyone heads to the international break.

As for the table, there was no movement at the top as Wolfsburg (27 points), Hoffenheim (24 points), and Bayern (21 points) took all three points this weekend. The Bavarians, however, were able to separate themselves from SGS Essen and FFC Frankfurt (both on 16 points) as the two sides drew in their Friday encounter.

Bayern’s next two matches upon returning from the international break are going to be tough. The Bavarians will host Wolfsburg in the DFB Pokal Round of 16 on November 16. Then, one week later, Bayern will travel to Wolfsburg for a massive Frauen Bundesliga contest between the two sides.
