From the very first minute, Bayern Munich played aggressively and wanted to score. They managed to score three goals in the first half and then things slowed down in the second half. Hansi Flick tried to spare players as much as possible before the Champions League match. Bayern managed to score another goal in the second half, and the match ended with a 4:0 victory for the Bavarians. Without further ado, here are the match awards!

Jersey swap: Erik Thommy

Erik Thommy was one of the best players on his team tonight. In the beginning, he didn’t do much because Bayern left little space for Fortuna’s attackers. But in the second half, Fortuna started playing better and Thommy was leading Fortuna’s attacks. He even scored a goal, but it was fortunately ruled offside.

Tip of the cap: Joshua Kimmich

A great day for Bayern’s versatile defender/midfielder. He played today as a defensive midfielder and did his job very well. He was organized and made little room for error. He made an assist today after he crossed the ball to Benjamin Pavard. It is not yet 100% clear whether Pavard should get the goal and Kimmich an assist, or Muller an assist and Kimmich a goal. Check it out for yourself!

Golf clap: Thomas Müller

Another match and another good performance from Müller! His performance tonight was very very good. He made some slick moves that caused trouble for Fortuna’s defense. His performance keeps getting better as he is given more and more playing minutes and he’s finally playing at his preferred position. He also added an assist to his name (or two) and had two key passes. All in all, a good day for our Raumdeuter!

Standing ovation: Robert Lewandowski

It is just an absolute pleasure to watch Robert Lewandowski in his best form. He was exceptional today. He made lots of good moves and dribbles which created space for other attackers. The fact that he had the most key passes for Bayern today (3) speaks for itself. He also added an assist to his name, but it is unfortunate that he didn’t extend his scoring tally today. But it is good to know that Bayern can score a bunch of goals without Lewandowski because he was guarded really well by Fortuna’s defense.

Meister of the match: Serge Gnabry

It is just amazing to have two players who are probably in the form of their lives that are playing for the same team. And I’m talking about Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski. Serge put on a scintillating performance tonight and, without any doubt, takes the meister of the match award. He helped his team with an assist and a goal. He could have had a brace after Lewandowski’s brilliant cross, but he was denied by the post. It is really nice to see Serge develop into one of Bayern’s best players.
