FC Bayern Munich mourn the death of former Vice President Rudolf Schels, who died unexpectedly at the age of 70.

Schels, from Regensburg, Bavaria, had been a member of the FC Bayern Advisory Board since 2009, served as Vice President between 2012 and 2016, and was a member of the Supervisory Board from 2014 to 2016.

During his association with FC Bayern, Schels’ expertise and significant contributions were important in the development of the FC Bayern Basketball Department. Schels prided himself on his close association with the secondary departments at FC Bayern, especially in the youth team and the campus.

The 70-year-old spoke of his great pride of working for and being a part of FC Bayern. He described it as “a massive honor to be able to serve this club.”

In memory of Rudolf Schels, FC Bayern will play their Bundesliga match on Saturday against Eintracht Frankfurt with a black armband.

Everyone at Bavarian Football Works sends their deepest condolences and sympathy to the family of Rudolf Schels.
