The Austrian football federation has added yet another insult to injury, after France insisted that injured center-back Lucas Hernández travel to join the French team for examination. The Austrians will also make use of their right to summon David Alaba to their international training camp during the break so that they can examine him and determine whether he might be fit to play. The federation announced on Twitter,

David Alaba, who is suffering from a hairline fracture to the rib, will travel to the training camp in Vienna on Monday. Since his availability to play against Slovenia and Israel remains questionable, Marco Friedl (SV Werner [sic!] Bremen) will join the national team for the first time. #AustriaTogether
Alaba suffered the injury when Tottenham Hotspur’s Serge Aurier landed on his chest with both feet in Bayern Munich’s Champions League group stage game in London. He had to be subbed off at half time.
If Bayern posts a similar statement regarding Alaba’s equally dubious call-up, we will update this article.
