FC Bayern Munich II’s third consecutive victory in the 3. Liga saw die Amateure climb to eighth in the table after a brace from Leon Dajaku.
Playing in front of 2,744 spectators at the Grünwalder Stadion, Bayern II took the lead against Eintracht Braunschweig in the fifteenth minute via Dajaku. The 18-year-old was set up by Kwasi Okyere Wriedt after the 25-year-old secured the ball on the left, taking it up the middle and finding Dajaku to take the lead in Munich.
Die Roten took advantage of their lead with positive displays on the pitch. However, the Bavarians were unable to increase the lead. Braunschweig grew into the game as the away side increased the pressure on them towards the end of the first half. Goalkeeper Christian Früchtl was called into action when the 19-year-old saved a shot from Martin Kobylanski.
Braunschweig improved still more in the second half. Marcel Bär had opportunities in the opening stages of the half but was unable to convert his chances against Bayern. The Amateure responded with an chance from Derrick Köhn, calling the away side’s goalkeeper into action. Braunschweig continued to search for the equalizing goal.
Bayern II secured the decisive 2-0 in spectacular fashion. Awarded a free-kick in the final minutes of the game, the away side had their final opportunity to secure a draw. Braunschweig goalkeeper Fejzic joined his side in the Bayern box as Kobylanski took the free-kick. But Danilo Wiebe’s header sailed wide.
Fast thinking by Früchtl sealed the victory: with a quick goal kick, the youngster caught his counterpart Fejzic still jogging back to his goal. Dajaku received the ball and struck it from within his own half into an empty net to score his second goal and secure Bayern’s fifth victory of the season!
