Once again, Bayern Munich returns to the magic of the DFB Pokal in an interesting matchup against 2. Liga side VfL Bochum.

It’s been nine years since Bochum, one of the worlds oldest football teams, last graced the German top flight, and they’re looking to pull off a shocker on Tuesday.

For Bayern, it’s business as usual despite having multiple injuries in the lineup and players such as Javi Martinez not making the trip for the match. It’s also a special homecoming for Leon Goretzka, who was born in Bochum. He represented VfL’s academy when he was six years old and debuted with their first team in the 2012-13 season.

Here’s what we have on the podcast:

On this episode, we take a look at VfL Bochum, who are currently 16th in the 2. Bundesliga table with a 1-6-4 record and 9 points. Today, Jake and Tom talk about the different possibilities Niko Kovac could produce in his lineup for this game. Also, we look at other interesting games across the DFB Pokal’s second round.

Looking around the cup, other games of note include Freiburg-Union Berlin, Hamburger SV-VfB Stuttgart and Arminia Bielefeld-Schalke 04 on Tuesday.

Wednesday brings another slate of exciting games including Wolfsburg-RB Leipzig, FC St. Pauli-Eintracht Frankfurt and “The Battle of the Borussias” between Dortmund and Mönchengladbach.
