Alphonso Davies revealed to Bundesliga.com what it’s like to play and work alongside Bayern Munich’s record-breaking striker Robert Lewandowski.
Since joining FC Bayern in January 2019, Davies has made a total of eleven Bundesliga appearances. The 18-year-old was on hand when the Polish international broke yet another Bundesliga record against Union Berlin.
“As you can see, Lewandowski is scoring goals and that’s what you want as a striker,” Davies said of his teammate. The 31-year-old scored his 215th Bundesliga goal in Bayern’s 2-1 victory against Union Berlin. Davies added,
I think he’s an outstanding player and there’s not much to be said about him that’s not been said already. As a teammate, he’s humble and wants to work hard. Every day in training he’s always doing something extra to improve his game.
Davies made his own history against Union Berlin, starting for Bayern for the first time.

It will be one the 18-year-old won’t forget anytime soon. Davies held down Bayern’s left flank, covered 6.7 miles — only three Bayern players ran further — and won more of his attempted challenges (19) than anyone on the pitch.
Lewandowski spoke to FCBayern.tv about Davies earlier this year. “For him I know that’s very important that he feels comfortable, and I want to help him. Of course, he’s very young, but I think he’ll be a great player.”
