When I started at this blog back in June of 2018, if you told me we would grow the best English-language Bayern Munich podcast out there I’d think you were crazy. Hell, my parents who didn’t even know about soccer were kinda surprised when I decided to do this.
It took a lot of time to get this thing started, with legal loopholes, and corporate registering us. Working through trouble with software, programs, microphones, etc. Long days editing multiple episodes.
MY hope when we started this was to hit 50,000 downloads in one year. April 10th to April 10th. As the numbers grew and grew, I knew we were gonna beat that, but it still seemed like an unreachable milestone.
Until I saw this today:

Tears and Oktoberfestbier started flowing. It’s a big accomplishment for me and for this blog to hit this number. And then I realized we did it in 199 days. Another major number and accomplishment.
So, I need to thank some people. First, thank you to Chuck Smith for helping me get this off the ground, working with the SBN people, and being the first host with the pod. This wouldn’t have happened without your help so thank you.
Thank you Tom Adams for taking the reigns from Chuck and making his old spot your own.
Thank you John Dillon for allowing me to do this, it’s been one of the best things I’ve done.
Thank you to my friends and family for your support and understanding that this sometimes takes way too much time and that sometimes, I’d miss meetings or meals.
Thank you to my professors at Syracuse University, especially Dr. Henderson, Prof. Grygiel, Prof. Lysak, and Prof. Kobland for supporting me in my work and teaching me to use Audacity, despite all of the nightmares it gave me.
Thank you to Scott Sandalow and the team at FC Bayern Munich US for realizing that we’re gonna grow the next 50k much faster and agreeing to partner with us.
But most of all, I have to thank all of you, the listeners. Without you this wouldn't have happened, and I’d just be screaming random opinions about soccer into the void. Your support and dedication to listening to this podcast has defied all my expectations and I can’t thank you enough.
So here’s to the next 50,000 and all of the new things we see in between.
Mia san mia,
-Jake.
