KIT LEAK: Bayern Munich’s new pre-match top for 2020

It’s been a HOT MINUTE since we’ve put out a fashion works piece. Did you miss us?!

It’s been far too long since we here at Bavarian Football Works have released a “Bavarian Fashion Works” article, but don’t worry, we’re back! We’ve obviously already seen all three of Bayern Munich’s 219/2020 kits in action, but now, per Footy Headlines, new images for the new pre-match top have leaked, and they’re pretty mint — as in cool, not mint green, don’t panic!

Have a looksie at some of the leaked images:

This new sleek look from Adidas features a combination of white, navy blue, and bold red for the monochromatic team badge and “FC Bayern” on the back of the kit. The unique wave graphic runs all the way across the front and back of the kit, and, like the main color scheme, the white and navy blue are inverted from front to back (white dominant in the front, navy blue dominant in the back). These kits are rumored to be retailed at around €55 when they’ll be officially released.

Interestingly enough, this is one of the few pre-match tops that actually features the words “FC Bayern” anywhere on the kit other than on the team badge. So much of the theme of this year’s kits for Bayern pays homage to the Allianz Arena, but this honestly just feels like another sleek, modern design that’s typically associated with pre-match tops; designers usually have far more flexibility on these.

The second new pre-match top is essentially just a different color take on the red training top that already exists; there’s really nothing much else to it other than that. I’m also going to go out on a limb here and assume that this one won’t be as much of a hit because it’s strikingly similar in tone to last year’s mint green monstrosity of an away kit. You get the idea.

BONUS: FIRE SHOES ON TAP!

Bayern are also set to release a special edition shoe in partnership with Adidas that uses the color scheme of this season’s third kit. All that needs to be said about these is that they’re STRAIGHT FIRE!
