After a cruel knee injury at the start of the season put Leroy Sané’s potential move to Bayern Munich on hold, that move now seems to have become a question of when rather than if.
Per TEAMtalk, Manchester City are scouting 22-year-old Mikel Oyarzabal as a potential replacement to Sané. Born in Eibar, Oyarzabal is currently under contract with Real Sociedad until 2024 with a release clause just short of €70 million, a sum not unreachable by any means for the Citizens.
Sané meanwhile is expected to return from his injury by December and by then will have eighteen months left on his contract. He reportedly has already made it clear to City that he wants to leave for Munich, with Bayern willing to meet City’s asking price upwards of €100 million.
The prospect of Manchester City coming to terms with Sané’s potential transfer to Bayern and scouting for a replacement should ease negotiations and avoid any unnecessary drama come January.
