Bayern Munich’s squad depth might get tested shortly, but the injuries to David Alaba and Jerome Boateng do not appear to be serious. Alaba, who had his ribs stomped by Tottenham Hotspur’s Serge Aurier, reportedly only had bruising in the region, while Boateng is experiencing back pain. Boateng will undergo injections to the affected area.
Sport Bild journalist Tobias Altschäffl issued the following update via Twitter:
Zweimal also leichte Entwarnung. @BILD_Sport

Injury update at #fcbayern: Per @SPORTBILD — Alaba has a severe bruise, but not a fracture. In Boateng’s case, he has back pain. The problems will be treated with injections. So a qualified all clear in both cases. @BILD_Sport
Less clear, however, is the state of Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez. Hernandez has been experiencing pain in the knee that he injured last season with Atlético Madrid. There was no word on when Hernandez might be available.
With Alaba, Boateng, and Hernandez all battling injuries, Niko Kovac could have to drop Javi Martinez back to center-back or dip into the club’s reserve team to fill out his roster this weekend against Hoffenheim if any of the aforementioned players suffers a setback.
