FC Bayern Munich continued to train in Doha, Qatar, today. According to FCBayern.com, the team has been hard at work getting ready for the Rückrunde, which begins on January 18. This means that the Bayern players have had limited free time to see much of anything outside the training grounds. Leon Goretzka commented on the time at winter camp so far:
The sessions are very intense. I wasn’t able to do much in the first two days, so I used the time to rest. Apart from that, you might stick on a movie or play some cards. We all want to work well here and get ourselves into good shape physically.
Thomas Müller also spoke to Bayern’s media staff about the intense training sessions. He spoke of “our esteemed Prof. Dr. Holger Broich,” the trainer that ran an intense running session. The forward had his trademark mischievous smile as he said the session was of the “uncomfortable variety.” Müller went on to say that he trusts the coaches and their strategies:
There’s always more of a sense of proportion in the winter preparation than in the summer, because we have to play again on January 18. We’re in pretty good shape, you don’t lose much during a ten-day holiday.
Day three also brought news about Corentin Tolisso. Tolisso and Arjen Robben have been working out individually. For the first time since his ACL rupture in September, the Frenchman was able to jog on an AlterG anti-gravity treadmill without any problems. Hopefully we see Tolisso back on the field soon for the Rekordmeister.
