Bayern Munich’s legendary winger Arjen Robben will see his career in Bavaria end in the coming months. The 34-year-old’s skill, production, and commitment to physical conditioning, however, could keep him gainfully employed in a “Big 5” league.
Per a report by Football Italia, Serie A’s Inter Milan is allegedly interested in bringing in the Dutch footballer.
After Diego Godin, Inter could get another veteran star as a free agent with a reported approach for Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben. Multiple Italian sources have stated that Godin has a basic agreement to join Inter once his contract with Atletico Madrid expires in June.
According to FCInterNews.it, the Nerazzurri have another bargain within their sights in the form of Robben. He turns 35 later this month and his contract is due to expire in June. The Dutchman has been in Munich since 2009, having previously played for Real Madrid, Chelsea, PSV Eindhoven and FC Groningen.
A return to the Netherlands had been expected, but Robben could consider a new challenge at San Siro. More importantly, the report states that it was Robben’s entourage who proposed the idea to Inter rather than the other way around.
Robben’s first half performance for Bayern was strong and displayed that the veteran still has something left to offer on the pitch. Robben has five goals and two assists in 15 appearance across all competitions for Die Roten this season.
Sadly, this could mean the end for the “Arjen Robben should join the Philadelphia Union in 2019/2020” campaign, along with similar (real) movements for PSV Eindhoven and FC Groningen.
