There is little time left for Bayern Munich as it opens the second half of the Bundesliga season in Hoffenheim on January 18th. The squad has to catch-up on table leader Borussia Dortmund, which is six points ahead of Bayern. From the fourth to the tenth of January, the Bavarian stars are preparing for the second half of the season at the Aspire Academy in Doha. Niko Kovač will surely be providing daily updates on the team’s progress as he did earlier via the team Twitter account.
With regards to the the chase for Bayern’s seventh consecutive Bundesliga title, Kovač knows that it will be a tough task to take the lead from Dortmund:
There are still six points left and we must try to catch-up as fast as we can. We’re the hunters. We want to increase the pressure on Dortmund and pick up where we left off.
Kovač also provided updates on some of Bayern’s injured players. The big news was about the Frenchman Corentin Tolisso:
I think we can expect to see Corentin Tolisso back in March. Serge Gnabry and James Rodriguez are back with the team. Mats Hummels is doing better. We’ll have to take each day as it comes with Arjen Robben.
It seems that we will witness the return of Tolisso in March, which is earlier than expected. It could be considered unlikely that Tolisso will play an important role throughout the rest of the season, but it will be good for him to at least get some playing time so that he can be at his best for the next campaign. As AZ reported, Tolisso is already running and training individually, which signifies tremendous progress has been made in his recovery from a devastating knee injury.
