In 2013, David Alaba was on the Bayern Munich squad that won Bundesliga, the Champions League, and the DFB-Pokal to complete the Treble. He is one of just seven team members left on Bayern’s roster from that 2013 team.

In 2019, Alaba has a lofty New Year’s resolution: win the Treble again. Although, Bayern is currently six points out of first place in the Bundesliga, the Austrian left-back is still confident that FC Bayern can still win the Treble this year. In an interview with Bild, as he arrived at Winter training-camp in Doha, he said:

I am the type who doesn’t set goals for the entire year, but instead just up until summer. The Treble is a dream! And we naturally want to fulfill that dream. I want to be successful with the (Austrian) National Team and with Bayern.

When asked about Bayern’s blockbuster draw with Liverpool in the Champions League Round of 16, Alaba remained cool and confident.

Everyone is beatable. In soccer a lot is possible. We have seen this often. Right now we just need to prepare successfully. The important thing is to stay healthy and then go at it full throttle.

Alaba spent his break on a trip with his family and girlfriend in Dubai. He also celebrated on New Year’s Eve with friends such as Niklas Süle and Marco Friedl.
