Bayern Munich might have some competition for Atletico Madrid’s Lucas Hernandez.
Per Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City and Manchester United could throw a wrench into Bayern Munich’s hopes in acquiring the defender.
In addition to Bayern’s interest and the possibility that Atletico tries to keep him, the two Manchester teams have been interested in signing him for a while. Lucas knows they’re there if he’s considering going to England. Both have shown interest in signing him.
Meanwhile, City Watch discussed Pep Guardiola’s fascination with Hernandez. Not surprisingly, Guardiola is looking for some pace at center back and versatility among his defenders.
Pep Guardiola is said to be a huge fan of the player’s profile and would be interested in taking him to the Etihad Stadium, while there is also interest from local rivals Manchester United. Hernandez would not be against a move to England it is reported, and that would be bad news for Benjamin Mendy, who has been benched by Lucas at left-back for the French national team.
Lucas can play either as a left-back or left-sided central defender, the sort of versatility Guardiola is known to admire in a player, and City may be in the market for a left-back in the near future with injury prone Mendy, the only specialist in the position.
With big such big spenders jumping into the mix, Bayern may have to reach deeper into its pockets if a bidding war ensues.
