The winter transfer window for the German Bundesliga will close on January 31. When it does, if a new report by Bild is to be believed (Bild+), 18-year-old rising star Callum Hudson-Odoi will remain a part of FC Chelsea. According to Bild’s information, Chelsea has informed Bayern Munich that it will not grant Hudson-Odoi’s request to transfer to Bayern Munich during the winter window under any circumstances. Hudson-Odoi will remain at Chelsea until at least the end of the season.

Bayern had reportedly offered Chelsea a transfer fee of €40m to acquire the youngster, but Chelsea backtracked on their initial asking price and have rejected all offers since. They reportedly want the young winger to sign a new contract, offering to raise his wages to about £85,000 per week. Once summer is here, however, Chelsea may be more willing to negotiate.

Bild report that despite Chelsea’s efforts to retain him, Hudson-Odoi still wants to transfer to Bayern Munich. They claim that Hudson-Odoi and Bayern are close to agreeing to terms for a summer transfer. Whether Chelsea will play along then, however, is another question. They might risk losing Hudson-Odoi on a free transfer, if they keep him against his will. His contract runs through the 2019/2020 season.

Hudson-Odoi has seen much more of the pitch since the drama surrounding his future and Bayern’s major interest in him began. He played yet again for Chelsea yesterday in the cup victory against Sheffield, scoring one goal and assisting another.

Hudson-Odoi was asked after the match whether it may be his last in a Chelsea jersey, to which he responded, “I can’t say.” His club thus seems to have answered for him, for now.
