The pursuit of Christian Pulisic can officially close as the Borussia Dortmund man will transfer to Chelsea in the summer of 2019. Pulisic had long been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, but it had become apparent over the last few weeks that the American star would likely make a move to the Premier League.

Now, the anticipation is over as Pulisic announced via his Twitter account.

In addition, Chelsea announced the transfer plans on its official website as well. The move makes Pulisic a Chelsea player today, but the Blues have loaned Pulisic back to Dortmund for the remainder of this season.

The move to Chelsea will certainly come at a good time as Pulisic has not been utilized as much under Lucien Favre and will be looking for a fresh start in the 2019-2020 season. The Hershey, Pennsylvania, native has three goals and four assists in 18 games across competitions this season for Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea should offer Pulisic a better chance to play more regularly, which is ultimately what the 20-year-old needs for his development at this stage. The Guardian has reported that the move was for €64m (£58m), which should bolster Dortmund’s finances even further.

For Bayern, there are still plenty of names that the club has been linked with. The pursuit of Pulisic would have been seen as a great marketing coup, in addition to the procurement of a talented player. Moving forward, however, the Bavarians can officially shift focus to other players, who may be a fit schematically but provide less of a marketing jolt in the United States.
