Bayern Munich’s draw with Liverpool in UEFA Champions League’s round of 16 has created a lot of excitement. Tension is already rising as we get closer to the showdown, which will certainly be the biggest challenge for Niko Kovač in his coaching career to date, and probably for the entire season.
Liverpool has a plethora of world-class players, especially in attacking positions, which should make the game quite challenging for Bayern’s defenders. Joshua Kimmich will be among those facing a difficult task, but the 23-year-old remains confident.
Kimmich spoke with SportBild about the upcoming games against Liverpool and expressed how the upcoming tilt will be a battle for both sides.
Everything is possible. It will be tough. But they certainly did not rejoice when they drew us. They know that we will be a tough cookie for them.
Kimmich also made it clear that Jürgen Klopp’s team is not only one of the best in England, but also one of the leading clubs in European football.
We have a great team. But Liverpool is one of the best teams in the world right now. They have everything: speed, technique; they are strong fighters.
The first leg is played on February 19 at Anfield and three weeks later the second leg will take place at the Allianz Arena. May the better team win!
