The final matches of the Hinrunde showed that Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was regaining the world class form that he has exhibited for years. As those quality showings piled up, Neuer’s confidence has risen and the 32-year-old feels like the entire squad is in a great place according to a piece done by The Mirror.

When looking at Bayern’s upcoming Champions League clash with Liverpool, Neuer made a point to watch The Reds’ Premier League match against with Manchester City on January 3rd. City walked out with a 2-1 victory and Neuer came away thinking that Bayern is poised and ready for the epic battle.

I watched Liverpool’s game against City – and you could see that they are not unbeatable. We have all seen that they are vulnerable — and I really don’t think Liverpool want to play against Bayern. Liverpool are a classy team and have played a great season so far. They haven’t conceded many goals and they are also very good on the counter-attack and strong at home. But I think our chances of winning are 50/50.

While Bayern stalwart Thomas Müller is currently slated to miss both games (appeal pending) of the tie, the matches on February 19th and March 13th are certain to have to fans buzzing worldwide as the German and English powers do battle on the pitch.

Meanwhile, Neuer also addressed the team’s second half focus on catching Borussia Dortmund in the league standings.

The aim is to prepare so that we are ready for the next stage of the season. It was not an easy first half because not everything went our way. We have to make amends and catch up.
