Among the players that have been linked with Bayern Munich recently, Atletico Madrid’s Lucas Hernandez is probably one of the biggest. Being a FIFA World Cup champion, the Frenchman comes with a hefty price tag for his services. Although the dust seemed to have settled somewhat recently, it appears that Bayern’s interest hasn’t faded away.

Today Atletico Madrid played against Levante at the Wanda Metropolitano, and as Marca informs us, Lucas Hernandez was left out of the matchday squad completely. This is despite reports that he has reportedly recovered fully from his knee injury and been given the green-light by the club’s medical staff.

Considering that the chances of Hernandez leaving in the winter window are slim, it’s surprising that Diego Simeone decided to leave the Frenchman out of the squad. Perhaps it was a precautionary measure, to prevent a key player from re-injuring himself upon return.

However, this doesn’t explain why Hernandez wasn’t even included amongst the substitutes. This fuels more speculation regarding his pending transfer to Bayern Munich. Perhaps a possible Hernandez transfer is closer than we think?
