The Quadle is dead: Franz loses the BunDucksLiga 2018 to Borussia Dortmund

It was so close, too!

Disaster! Franz has lost the 2018 BunDucksLiga final to Nobby, Borussia Dortmund’s rubber duck. It was always going to be an uphill climb for Bayern Munich’s rubberized fowl, who had to be taken out of his natural habitat in the water to compete in the air alongside many lighter and faster ducks. To finish where he did is an achievement in itself. However, after that amazing performance in the first round, all of us BELIEVED that he could do it. Sadly, it was not to be.

Here are the final standings:

  1. Borussia Dortmund — Nobby (Champion)
  2. Bayern Munich — Franz (Runner-up)
  3. Borussia Monchengladbach — Junter (Nobody cares)

Dortmund fans are understandably jubilant at how their quest for a BunDucksLiga title has finally paid off after years and years of waiting, but it’s a bitter pill to swallow for us Bayern fans. Hilariously, Borussia Monchengladbach, who lead the race for pretty much the entire game, managed to pull a Neverkusen and come third IN THEIR OWN STADIUM. Talk about a bunch of chokers.

Still, at least there’s next year. Franz is still the best-performing duck in the competition, with one title and two runners-up medals in four years. He will be back, and stronger than ever.
