Just one more day until Germany takes on Peru.

Mats Hummels dominated Twitter - again (@matshummels)

As stated here many times, Mats Hummels is one of the best professional athletes in the world when it comes to interacting with fans on Twitter. Earlier today, the Bayern Munich and Die Mannschaft center back hosted another Twitter Q&A. Below, I extracted a few of the (summarized) questions and answers:

  • Who flicks your ear the hardest, Niklas Süle? “Definitely!”
  • What are you watching on Netflix? “Brooklyn99 @AndySamberg.”
  • Is it always you who replies on Twitter? “That‘s always (!) me.”
  • Did you listen to the new Eminem album yet? “I did not listen to it yet but i definitely will.”
  • Do you support/follow any other team in world football? “I mostly support players I played with for a long (sic) time.”

And I’ll just leave this one here:

Leroy Sané became a father (@cfbayern)

The timing and abrupt departure without initial explanation looked kinda bad, but it was nothing controversial. As speculated, Leroy Sané left Die Mannschaft because he became a father:

Bayern, again, named to German Superbrands list (FCBayern.com)

A day after being voted the least likable team in Germany, Bayern was recognized as one of the country’s top brands:

Great recognition for FC Bayern as the German record champions have once again been named by Superbrands Germany as one of the nation’s best and strongest brands. The title is awarded by Superbrands, one of the world’s leading brand assessment organizations. FC Bayern is the only German football club to ever receive the award.

Superbrands rewards the best and strongest brands in 88 countries, and has been doing so for over 24 years. This was the eighth edition in Germany. It sees a jury of 23 judge over 1,350 nominated brands based on brand dominance, customer loyalty, goodwill, longevity and brand acceptance. FCB has previously been named among Germany’s Superbrands in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2016.

Bayern’s annual general meeting date announced (FCBayern.com)

Bayern has released the details for its annual meeting, which will take place at the Audi Dome:

The FC Bayern München eV Annual General Meeting will take place at the Audi Dome on Friday 30 November 2018. More information and the invitation will be published in member magazine “51” and on the official club website over the coming weeks.

This year the event cannot take place on a weekend with a home match for the football team as the Audi Dome is almost fully booked throughout November and December. Among other reasons, the number of FC Bayern Basketball home matches has increased because of their qualification for the EuroLeague. Moreover, the time required for assembly and dismantling had to be taken into account.

Alphonso Davies should keep this look going (@WhitecapsFC)

Keep your hair going vertically at least until you join Bayern, Alphonso! Hopefully longer.

This is a great sweater (@MesutOzil1088)

I just posted this because that sweater Mesut Özil has is awesome and the pants aren’t shabby either. The clothes remind me of every single picture of myself growing up.

Everyone is sick of Neymar’s theatrics (@FoxSoccer)

USMNT outside back DeAndre Yedlin had a subtle question for the referee after another Neymar dive: “Did you watch the World Cup?”

A call for fan groups (BavarianFootballWorks.com)

We are trying something here at the Daily Schmankerl and need YOUR help. If you read my man Tommy Adams’ piece about his experience with the FCBNYC Fan Club (if you haven’t, SHAME ON YOU!), you could see how great the event was. So we want to highlight some of these wonderful groups that are out there globally and this is what we need from you:

  • Name of the group
  • Location
  • Year founded
  • Leadership (if you have people are kind of running the show)
  • Meeting place
  • Social media handles
  • Pictures

We have 7 clubs on board so far. I’d LOVE to be able to feature a different fan group every week this season. Maybe we can do it, maybe not...but only YOU can help decide the fate of this idea. Send your info to: barrelsportsblog@gmail.com.
