Although the headlines from this past weekend were dominated by Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over VfB Stuttgart, Maxime Awoudja of Bayern’s reserve team produced a highlight reel worthy of several looks. During their 2-2 draw with Viktoria Aschaffenburg in the Regionalliga, the 20-year old scored a wonder goal that put Bayern 2-0 up (at the time). He was a a good couple of yards outside of Aschaffenburg’s penalty area
Unfortunately for the reserves, they surrendered their two-goal lead and wound up drawing 2-2, but the point was enough to take them to the top of the Regionalliga table.
Have a look at the strike from Awoudja:

The match vs. Aschaffenburg was only Awoudja’s second appearance for the Bayern Munich reserves as he spent the majority of the summer recovering from a knee injury. In his return from injury, though, he was included in the starting lineup for Bayern’s friendly against Hamburg midway through August, which Bayern won by a score of 4-1. He was included in a relatively young starting back line alongside Derrick Köhn, Ivan Mihaljevic, and Rafinha.
Approximately two weeks before his call up to the senior squad for the Hamburg friendly, Awoudja signed a professional contract with the club through June 30th, 2021. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic spoke on his excitement for the 20-year old who has a bright future in Munich, where he’s spent the majority of his childhood:
We are very happy that Maxime stays with us. He’s a fast and strong center-back who has proven his potential in our amateurs and training sessions with the pros.
