Well, the Oktoberfest is here, and so are the English weeks! Bayern Munich welcome fellow Bavarians Augsburg to the Allianz Arena for a clean bit of pure footballing fun. Of course, the fact that it’s Oktoberfest won’t stop us from trying to beat them 10-0, extending Niko Kovac’s win streak to eight games. That’s just the way it is.
Team news
Of course, all this talk of win-streaks and high scorelines is moot, because the Agugsburg games presents a different challenge to coach Niko Kovac than the ordinary Wednesday fixture. Coming at a time when fixture congestion is at its most challenging, the coach MUST rotate for this game or else his starters likely won’t make it to the end of the international break.
With that in mind, expect Sandro Wagner to get his first start for Bayern this season. Kovac was typically coy on the subject, but we can assume that he’s not going to make Robert Lewandowski play another game without rest. Same thing goes for James Rodriguez — sorry James fans, but he has played three games in a row, two of which were full nineties, and he needs to be rested.
Here’s a quick roundup of the coach’s press conference:
- Jerome Boateng had a small problem in training but he’s okay now.
- Kovac can’t stop praising James.
- The coach wants Bayern to convert more of the chances we create.
- Manuel Neuer is like a cat.
Without further ado, here are our best guesses for the lineup tomorrow:
